Support Emmy’s Organics: Where Food & Love Meet!

Hello Friends! Thommy and I are on a mission and we need your help!!

We recently had the great pleasure of meeting Ian Gaffney and Samantha Abrams, the owners of Emmy’s Organics, a completely gluten-free, vegan and raw food company that originates from the beautiful city of Ithaca, NY. They specialize in MACAROONS (Dark Cacao, Coconut Vanilla, Lemon Ginger, Chai Spice, Mint Chip, Choco-Orange, Choco-Chili), GRANOLA and CHOCOLATE SAUCE!

Emmy’s Organics is currently carried in 21 states, at over 400 locations, including Whole Foods. At the moment, they are not carried by Wegmans and that’s why I’m writing this today. We are so impressed with their product, their business ideology and their overall LOVE of LIFE that we are now singularly focused on reaching Wegmans and making sure they hear our request: “WE WANT EMMY’S!”

We want Emmy’s Organics to be a household name because we know they can set the standard for other food companies. They believe that food should satisfy, nourish and even enlighten the consumer; they use the very highest quality ingredients in their foods. In addition, their packaging is eco-friendly and they believe in sustainability for the Ithaca community, as well as our global community. They understand that we are all unified and your health and well-being is important to them, not as a consumer, but as a valued friend.

Imagine what will happen when ALL our food is manufactured in this manner. Imagine what will happen when profit does not define the bottom line of success. Imagine what will happen when the health and happiness of the consumer is the single most important intention of any given business. It will start a revolution! So today I’m asking YOU to be a part of this transformation. By taking small steps together, we can make giant leaps and change the landscape of food production and consumption!

HOW YOU CAN HELP…

A) If you’re like me, you may feel most comfortable making your request in writing. If this is the case, I urge you to sign one of the following letters and mail it to Wegmans corporate office:

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc.
ATTENTION: CONSUMER AFFAIRS
1500 Brooks Avenue
PO Box 30844
Rochester NY 14603

There are three letters to choose from (available in either Word or PDF):

1. Emmys Supporters. The purpose of this letter it to inform Wegmans of all the wonderful qualities that make Emmy’s Organics so special and lets Wegmans know exactly why their consumers would support the decision to carry these products. [PDF: Emmys Supporters]

2. Food Sensitivities. This letter is specially written for those of us who deal with any number of food allergies or sensitivities (including Celiac Disease or IBS) who would appreciate the opportunity to buy snacks at Wegmans that we know we can feel good about! [PDF: Food Sensitivities]

3. New to Organics. The intent of this letter is to let Wegmans know how much “beginners” to organic or raw eating would appreciate the ability to purchase Emmy’s Organics in Wegmans, which is considered by many to be a one-stop shop for health-conscious products. [PDF: New to Organics]

B) Maybe you’re more comfortable placing a telephone call and letting the folks at Consumer Affairs know that you support Emmy’s Organics and encourage Wegmans to make these products available to their loyal customers. If you feel compelled to pick up the phone, their number is 1-800-WEGMANS ext. 4760, Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm EST.

C) Maybe you consider yourself to be pretty tech-savvy and you’d prefer to reach Wegmans on your home turf… if that’s the case, you can place an online product request at Wegmans.com/contactus … or you can state your case in 140 characters at twitter.com/Wegmans!

Or maybe you feel so impassioned by this plea that you wish to choose D) “All of the Above” in this survey of how you can help spread the word of Emmy’s Organics. We hope that’s the case because we’re honored to know the two beautiful souls behind this company and their success up to this point – and their continued success in the future – fill us with hope, pride and love.

Happy Tuesday: Better Than Ever Edition

Yesterday was just one of those days that change everything. We’re all changing, little by little, each day, I know; but yesterday was more of the “changing-by-leaping” variety. I am so curious each day when I waken: what part of me will die today and what part am I about to give birth to? I don’t know when this started but looking back I’ve now realize that every day has been a mini-revolution of thought and action. Perhaps it was always this way, but since The Reconnection, as I “notice what I notice” – I’ve noticed this: I’m becoming more like myself every day.

I used to apologize so profusely, you would be sure it was my very existence I was atoning for. People would cut in front of me in a supermarket, or bump into me on the streets and were promptly greeted by MY apologies. “Sorry for existing, let me get out of your way now.” (Side note: I wasn’t so good at the Big Girl apologies.) No more… I don’t feel compelled to exonerate myself at each waking moment.

I used to curse the very skin I live in because that somehow felt more natural than settling comfortably into my grooves and shapes and accepting how perfect I was. It seemed preposterous to believe that my body, scarred and not perfectly proportioned, was beautiful. I abused my body in a myriad of ways, while simultaneously shaming myself for buying into the conspiracy of mass-produced “beauty standards.” No more… I have been reminded and will continue to spread the message: YOUR BODY IS NOT AN APOLOGY.

I used to shy away from people, unfamiliar places and experiences that did not fit completely within my comfort zone. I used to live for yesterday and for tomorrow, but not for today. I used to balance our checkbook like it was my soul’s sole purpose. I used to tell myself and others that “I wasn’t good in math (or science, or art history, or esoteric study, or _________________) because I wanted to shout out my weakness before other’s could whisper about it amongst themselves. I used to refrain from telling people I loved how much I loved them, or how much I liked their company, or how much I wanted to help them because I was afraid of what they would make that up to mean. I didn’t wear tank tops in the summer. I didn’t speak my mind if what it had to say was the dissenting or minority opinion.

It’s bound to happen that some days, some of these absurdities will creep up and out into my experience. I guess what I’m most grateful for is this new sense of recognition that enables me to witness myself as a casual, outside observer and act quickly to realign with the very best parts of my being.

I learned an “anchoring” technique yesterday. This particular healing process involved the perpetual feeling of inadequacy I hold and linked it back to a time in my life, when I was 19 and experiencing the very worst of what a hospital has to offer. It was at this time when I felt certain that I would never be healthy, confident, capable or CERTAIN. This word has escaped me for so long and when Elizabeth guided me through this anchoring, she had me repeat, “I am certain, I am certain.”

I am so certain that yesterday was one of the top 5 most important days of my life. For perspective, I offer up 02/18 (birth date), 10/04 (my wedding anniversary) and 09/13 (my admission into Renfrew) and now 05/02 (the realization and understanding of my life’s purpose, replete with tools on how to go about carving out destiny).

God calls you to the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” ~Frederick Buechner

I am so blessed and honored by this process of awakening; so grateful for this time of understanding. I am so excited to start my life’s work in the knowledge that I am always enough. I am capable. I am certain.

I am…

PS. My “Attitude of Gratitude” project is moving along at a slower pace than I originally imagined. Come to find out that sitting down to tell someone how much you love and appreciate them is a powerful, time-consuming, cathartic and miraculous experience and can be brilliantly exhausting. My goal is one person a day now. But I hope that when it’s YOUR day, you can really feel how much gratitude I hold for your existence in my experience. Thank you for your patience <3
